Coastal walks, Acrylic and oil paint on canvas, 50 x 121 cm

Working in light and colour, Sarah Saridis draws from the nature that surrounds her, living in South Gippsland, Victoria and explores the connection nature has with our inner, reflective spaces. Saridis works in both painting and drawing, following an intuitive practice using gestural marks to capture the fleeting moments of colour and light within the landscape and local plants in her botanical series.

To be able to work in the landscape offers such a precious source of inspiration to her as she honours this space; to be still, observe and listen, in the hope of bringing that energy through her work. Moving between drawing and painting in her practice, offers her a method to expand her painting from observations and to find freedom in painting. The movement of brush marks and the immediacy felt in painting become as important to her as the subject she paints.
